Hi and welcome to Putaro Plastic Modeller! These are my artworks for Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC) since 2015 until 2023. Over the years building Gunpla and joining GBWC, I learned so much things, and hundreds of experiments and thousands of hours building, painting and customizing all kinds of Gunpla, spents lots of money and time also all the materials and tools.
Few years when I started, I did developed my style, and make sure it's looks like my style. I called it Putaro's Weathering Style Technique (PWST), because my artworks are mostly focusing on artistic then realistic. To me my artworks are like a painting with story, so I want to create an artwork that tell stories by looking at the artwork. Besides, Gunpla a sci-fi mecha giant robot and stuff, with a bit of realistic, so I will stick on that.
The past 7 years, lots of people don't agree on my style, and how I use tools and techniques especially when I started. Lots of people or model kit builder suggested expensive paints and tools if I want to achieve everything. I understands it, but I believed that equipment, materials and tools are just equipment, materials and tools. The main things are your ideas, skills, experience, talents and desire. If you love in what you do, you can be passionate on it.
Actually I did bought and used almost every expensive materials, paints, and tools that money can buy and I did used and compare it with paints and tools that I usually used. The reasons are to prove that my skills and ideas are not from the expensive stuff. After I used all those things, I started to mix using my selected paints and tools.
Until today, I still use a bit of everything. I use from the cheapest items form a dollar store to the expensive professional paints and tools. As long it can realizing my ideas. Some of my tools and paints are sponsored from everywhere, I thank you for that. I always used all the sponsor things with full efforts and pushed everything to the limit so we can see the full potential.
